The ESIC University Debate Club launched a new edition of its Debate Tournament, an initiative aimed at first- and second-year *Bachillerato* students from schools in the Valencian Community, with the goal of bringing academic debate into the classroom and offering young people a space to put their argumentation, analysis, and communication skills to the test.
The competition took place in different phases. The first qualifying round took place on November 5 and 6, 2026, with one session held at AITEX in Alcoi and another at the ESIC University Valencia Campus. Subsequently, the qualifying teams participated in the final round, held in Valencia and linked to ESIC Valencia’s E-Day, thereby integrating the tournament into a larger-scale event.
Fourteen teams from six educational institutions in the provinces of Valencia and Alicante participated in this edition, with a total of 80 students involved in the competition.
Beyond the competitive dynamic itself, the tournament allowed participants to address issues from different perspectives, prepare arguments, compare positions, and defend their viewpoints before other teams. The debate thus became a practical exercise in analysis, in which having an opinion is not enough: it is necessary to understand the problem, select relevant information, construct a coherent argument, and respond to differing positions in a well-founded manner.
